Travel Agency System - Phase 1: Data Sources
In this section we will identify the current data sources that are available in order to facilitate dynamic holiday searches. These sources are those identified by the Agency at the meeting on Oct 11, 2005.

Accommodation

Although there are several sources of accommodation data, we are going to need a module that enables us to identify an accommodation in order to display the information page on any particular accommodation. Whilst each accommodation page could be manually built, the Agency must consider building an accommodation module as part of a travel system. This way, the data and information in the travel system can be used to generate the individual accommodation pages when such requests are made but can also be used for future enhancements. Situations like 'stay 7 pay 6' could be built into this module as this functionality is not available in the Tripper system.

Identify the tables in the Tripper system that make up the Bedbank. This could be done through Dataworld Systems who write the Tripper software or CSI Media who have already carried out this work for other Tripper customers however, CSI Media may be reluctant to provide us with this code if we are not buying into their system. These files are in dBase format.

Caribbean accommodation is FREESALE. This means we can show the accommodation as available until notified otherwise (STOP SALES).

Europe, USA and Canada are mostly xml: HotelBeds, AlliedTPro. Need to get a cost per xml supplier for accommodation.

Flights

Worldspan Contact: Beata Cosgrove beata.cosgrove@worldspan.com 020 8745 9015
Product link: xmlprosdk.wspan.com

Worldspan would have to grant permission to use the GDS to check for flight availability and to process bookings. There is a cost associated with the service that can be offset against segments booked. Worldspan are currently preparing a proposal for the agency.

Schedule flights can also be obtained through consolidators. The agency has identified Travel 2 and Globepost. The agency is checking if these consolidators offer an xml service.

Consolidators:
Globepost: gettheweb@globepost.co.uk
Travel2/4:

Nett contracts: The agency does not currently have a system for loading nett airline contracts. If these are required then a flight loader module will need to be built.

Low Cost Carriers:
EastJet (b2b@easyJet.com)
Ryan Air
BMI Baby www.bmibaby.com
We need to check how to get this flight availability. Other systems use screen scraping.
